Using WebSockets APIs in Web Applications - Next Meetup of JUGKarachi

JUGKarachi is organizing its next meetup on January 6, 2014. This time we will be dicussing about Web Sockets usage in web applications with JAVA EE 7.

Web Sockets is a full-duplex, bi-directional communication over the Web. Using Web Sockets, Both the server and client can send data at any time, or even at the same time. Only the data itself is sent, without the overhead of HTTP headers, dramatically reducing bandwidth.

"WebSockets is an advanced technology that makes it possible to open an interactive communication session between the user's browser and a server. With this API, you can send messages to a server and receive event-driven responses without having to poll the server for a reply." MDN

I would recommend to read this article for basic knowledge about WebSockets.

Java EE 7 was launched with many features including support for WebSockets (JSR 356: JavaTM API for WebSocket). Now it's possible to write Java Web applications with websocket capabilities.

Hopefully, This session would be a great start if you are planning to use WebSockets in your next application.
